How to Change a Permanent Links

There are 2 common ways that bloggers usually use to change the auto link / permalink on blogspot posts, and these two ways are:

1. Rewrite the articles

2. Using the draft post edit system on posts.

Because the first method may seem complicated, then in this tutorial we will try to change the permalink by using the second method, namely through the draft post system. Please follow the procedure below:

1. Please log in to your Blogger account> Select Posts > Click Published (article already posted)

2. Then select the article whose link you want to permanently change. As in the picture below.

3. Next, in the publish menu on the right select Revert to draft and click Post settings

4. Then click Permalink and Change the permalink to your liking.

Note: After changing the permalink, the first link will automatically become a 404 error when visited.

To Avoid Error 404

Of course deleting the article or changing the permalink will result in a 404 error on the previous link. To overcome this and so that traffic on the first link is not lost, we recommend redirecting the link in the custom redirects menu, ie from the first link (which has been removed) is redirected to the second link (new link). Here's how:

1. Log in to your Blogger Account and

select Settings

2. Then click Custom redirects under Errors and redirects and click ADD

3. In the Edit section, enter the original link you want to redirect.

For example, here I will change the permanent link in one of my article posts. https://telecomyaar.blogspot.com/2021/07/how-to-make-color-picker-tool-on-blogger-6554286381.html and I redirected to

https://telecomyaar.blogspot.com/2021/07/how-to-make-color-picker-tool-on-blogger.html

Here's how: For redirect links, the type of link entered starts from 2021/ or without a domain. It will be like this

2021/07/how-to-make-color-picker-tool-on-blogger-6554286381.html

and for the redirect link

2021/07/how-to-make-color-picker-tool-on-blogger.html

4. Fill in the first link in the From column and the second link in the To column.

5. Click Permanent after filling in all the links and then click Ok then click Save. Or as in the picture below.

Now the post that was a 404 error due to permalink removal can now be accessed with the new address. And this will automatically redirect to the new link if the blog visitor clicks on the old link.
